Mike Mussina. He has always been one of my favorite pitcher from his Oriel days and Yankee days, he announced his retirement this week. The best thing about it, he had decided this as early as Jan before the season started, moreover, he went out ON TOP, with his one and only 20 win season (which proves that he still has a lot left in his tank, yes, the velocity of his fast ball may have dropped from the high 90s when he was younger to the low 90s today, he still has that devastating circle change that I will miss dearly).
One thing about Mussina that I like, he's never been a prima donna, always a team player, cerebral in his approach to the game, family man, and a man of chracter. He may has less raw power then Clemens, less flare than Pedro, or less precision and intelligence than Maddux. He, however, blends in everything he does well and make it a successful career out of it.
Final tally of his numbers. 270-153, 3.68 ERA.
Hall of Famer. Lets hope so.
