Wrinkles

I am surprised this morning to find some wrinkles on my face.
They say wrinkles on a man’s face adds character, I am not so sure about that….

Shake The Disease by Hooverphonics (DMR)

My friend gave me a CD the other day of the Depeche Mode's greatest hit redition by various artists and I found this one by the group Hooverphonics. This is definitely the best song in there. Very dark, almost Depeche Mode-isque with a twist. and arhhhhh! brings back the memory.

I wish the blog can allow poster to post mp3 files so I can share this song with you guys....

Shake The Disease

"I'm not going down on my knees,
Begging you to adore me
Can't you see it's misery
And torture for me
When I'm misunderstood
Try as hard as you can, I've tried as hard as I could
To make you see
How important it is for me
Here is a pleaFrom my heart to you
Nobody knows meAs well as you do
You know how hard it is for me
To shake the disease
That takes hold of my tongue
In situations like these
Understand me..."

My Neighbor Totoro

I was flipping through the channel before bed last night and found this movie. Though I have heard a lot about it over the years, I never watched it, until yesterday. I got to say, My Neighbor Totoro is probably one of the best family film ever made. Anime or not. The way the two little girls Mei and Sasuki interacts with one another and the scenery of the country side brings back childhood memory since I too was raised in the country side. And throughout the movie, I couldn’t help by having a grin in my face and said to myself “yup, I remember I did that when I was a kid!”

Mastros Ocean Club

Was invited to join my VP and a big client for dinner last night. The restaurant we went to is called Mastros Ocean Club at Newport Beach. It is one of the most expensive restaurant I’ve ever been. At the end of the night, for six of us, the bill comes out to be over $1,200. I don’t think I’ll ever go back there again :P

Kobe vs. Lebron

I found this article by Steve Kerr on Yahoo Sport. I thought this is a great comparison.
I use to hated Kobe when he first started, but now, I am slowing becoming his fan. At this stage, I think he IS the best player in the game. But unfortunately, I don't think he has the ability to eleveate his team to become the BEST team in the NBA. That honor goes tom Timmy D. who with the system they have with Manu G. and T Parker. IS the best team.

LOS ANGELES – "Who's better, Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?"
That's the question fans kept asking me around town prior to the
Cleveland Cavaliers-Los Angeles Lakers matchup at Staples Center. It's a question that may not be easy to answer, but one that is pleasing to ponder.
Each player is spectacularly athletic, dynamic in personality, physically dominant and skilled beyond belief. But L.A.'s win over Cleveland also showed how different the two players are, and that Kobe might be – at his stage anyway – a step ahead of LeBron.
Prior to the game, James was asked about Kobe and gave a very candid response that foreshadowed the outcome of the game. LeBron described Bryant as the best player in the NBA before admitting, "I don't think I have an instinct like Kobe where I want to kill everybody."
I think that quote tells a lot about the difference between the two. Kobe is a cold-blooded scorer – a man without a conscience who revels in taking the big shot at the end of the game and isn't afraid of missing it. LeBron is a more conscientious player – a distributor of the ball who feels most comfortable controlling the game with his passing yet providing scoring when needed. Their respective approaches to the game differ defensively, too. Kobe relishes the one-on-one, mano-a-mano style, but he can get lost watching the ball on the weak side. LeBron is not as accomplished in his one-on-one defense, preferring to play away from the ball, clog the passing lanes and look for steals.
Kobe's relentless nature was on full display late in the game on Thursday. He overcame a cold shooting performance to knock down three straight jumpers in the waning moments to seal the victory for the Lakers. Only the most confident of players can shrug off a bad stretch – Kobe had missed 11 of his previous 12 shots at that point – and confidently drain buckets with the game on the line. But Kobe does it time and again, and his aggressive nature and unforgiving style allow him to perform at the highest level in crunch time. He is Jordan-like in his Terminator-style approach: Nothing will get in his way, or in his head.
LeBron, on the other hand, is a more thoughtful player. He is always looking for teammates and trying to bring a sense of order to the game. Against the Lakers, the Cavaliers' strategy was to pound the ball into
Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and James made sure his big man got the ball, as Ilgauskas dominated the paint for most of the game in scoring 29 points.
When James needed to score, he did, pouring in 28 points. His outside shot has improved dramatically in the past year or two, and although he occasionally takes an off-balance shot, he is gaining more and more confidence in his offensive game. But his nature is to be a passer, and when he can mix up his scoring and distributing, he's at his best.
Each player's strength can also be his weakness. Kobe is so strong-willed and relentless that he frequently takes bad shots and disrupts the flow of the game for his teammates. He often continues his attacking style when the situation calls for pulling back and getting teammates involved, and that gets the Lakers in trouble. As a result, many of his teammates have struggled to find a niche playing with him.
LeBron is such a team-oriented player that he doesn't quite have Kobe's (or Michael Jordan's) game-closing mentality. With 5.2 seconds to play, LeBron missed a tying free throw, and after
Drew Gooden grabbed the offensive board, James missed a potential game-winning jumper. While James certainly wasn't afraid of taking the big shot, he didn't appear arrogant in his approach.
With Kobe, everyone in the building knows that he's going to make the clutch shot. You can feel Bryant's aura in the arena. LeBron is still young, but he clearly doesn't look as comfortable in that role as Kobe does.
So who is better? Take your pick. Would you rather have Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? You can't go wrong with either one.
LeBron is the better passer and rebounder, he's younger, stronger and more explosive than Kobe and he has a better feel for the game and his teammates. Bryant is the better shooter, the more creative one-on-one player and a tougher on-ball defender.
They are different players, each superior to the other in many ways. But what separated them Thursday was Kobe's killer instinct that LeBron spoke of before the game. James just might be the best overall player in the league, but Bryant is the best – and most feared – player in the NBA with the game on the line.

Too much of pissing the nights away...

What is the consumption level of alcohol to be considered as an alcoholic? I asked myself that question last night before I sleep. The reason I raise this question is that I think I am drinking too much lately. Since mid Dec., I counted that I have had a glass of wine, Whiskey, Martini, or a bottle or two beer almost every single night of the week. Usually just a glass of martini, or 1/2 a glass of scotch on a rock, or a glass of wine, or a beer.
I drink because it helps me sleep. and I had two glasses of Martini last night.

I think I am becoming borderline Alcoholic. its time to stop....no more pissing the nights away.

Biggest Loser

After the feasts over the Thanksgiving weekend, some folks in my department had the crazy idea of running a Biggest Loser Contast, and today's is the weight in. the pot for this contest is a whopping $200.

I weighted in at 133 lbs the Monday after Thanksgiving. which is normal for my height (3 lbs over my Triathlon weight). so over the holiday weekend, I came up with my own diet plan of alcohol and cigarette and two meals a day.
and After the weight in today, I lost 6 lbs (127 lbs)-->4.5% of my body weight. but it is still not enough to win the contest. Someone in my department actually lost 8 lbs and 6% of his body fat, so he took home the $200.

Well, since the competition is over, and I am feeling REALLY REALLY sick since going on my alchohol and cigarette diet. I am ditching the cigarettes and say sayunara to my gins. SCREW THAT. I am having a steak for lunch today and resuming my Triathlon training. I am hungry already.

Weekend Update

It's been a while since my last entry. Partly because I've been swamped with work, partly because of the numerous "Animal House" incidences that happend over theNYE. But I am happy to report that all is well...so far. My life is never dull I can tell you that for sure.

Over the past couple of month, my social life has suddenly gotten just a tad complicated. Though it add colors to my otherwise Spartan-wannabe life, I realized it does have its price. and in the end, all you get are troubles, headaches and a bad liver.

no more i say :P until the next time fate deals me a funny card.
