Booty Call???

hummm.

Recently, "Somebody" was offered a booty call by a drunken girl.

The problem, however, lies in the fact that this potential booty call:

1) Lives within 60 miles radius
2) Is a little bit below this "Somebody's" standard
3) Has a complex past

So, the dude kindly turn it down and sent the girl packing...

wise move? I say yes :) (after realizing how plain this girl looks)...ha ha ha

Winter Fat

I just measured my weight today and I couldn't believe what I read on the scale.
I have gained 10% of my body weight since October (My Triathlon Weight).

this is pretty alarming since I've never been this heavy in my life before.
time to ditch the beer/chip/cigarette diet and get back to my hermid triathlon training.
I want my hot bod back by Apr.

PEE Ratio

Have you guys wonder where did all the alcohol you drink goes?
Anyway, for some stupid reason. the topic became a point of discussion in a conversation with a friend today....and it turned into a experiement.

So after a few bottles of beer. here is the result.

For every 4 bottles of beer, the PEE ratio is 4 bottles of beer to 3 bottles of pee (Don't ask how that was measured) within 1 hour. And that is a fact! Where did the other bottle go?

Hummmm

Vegas 2006

Went to Vegas this past weekend.
It was one of the funner Vegas trip I could remember in recent years.
Had a great time at the Playboy Club and Treasure (which I highly recommend) and met some cool new friends. Hopefully, I'll reciprocate the hospitality when and if they ever visit LA :P

ahhh! Back to my working life...

kinda like my summer training periold, where is just me and a few things I want to do. So looking forward to it !

Nightmares....

For the past two nights, I've been having crazy nightmares of people dying. I wonder in my psyche, what could this all mean?

I don't remember the nightmare I had on Monday, but the one I had yesterday was pretty graphic.

The dream was about friends dying…in a very bad way too. In the dream, I was sitting in this very posh ocean front restaurant for some brunch with friends. Our seat was right next to the beach with huge glass window that extended to the roof. Then there is this sudden huge green wave about the height of 2 story building crashing into the window. Everyone paniced. And the glass cutoff my coworkers head in half....

then I woke up.

More pics to come...

Well folks, that is a glimpsy of my Taiwan Trip. It was WAYYY too short.

I still some more pics. to post. and tales to tell. Like the wine bar in Taipei, the 3-2 SPA, my bing-lun experience, subway stories and the duty free store chick, and jen's dog QQ.

well, stay tuned.

Big thank to everyone involved to make this a memoriable trip.

Day 5

Today. I had a interesting Dinner with Mom and Dad and Dad's college friend...
well. JH can fill you on it if you ask her :P

Anyway, after the akward dinner. I went a drinkin' .... thanks for picking me up and give me excuse to leave early JH. owe you one!

As for drinking in Taipei.

Lets just say that the drinkin' culture in TW is terrible. Thanks to Joan's Girl pal Janice, we were able to get back home in one piece....
Oh. Here is an additional pic. of the BEST SHAVED ICE I have ever tasted....
forgot to posted yesterday.

(gotta give it up to Mrs. Joan again. she DOES know how and what to eat. It was good!)

Day 4

Today. Joan is kind enough to be my tour guilde around Taipei.

We started at 9:ooAM (drove by the presendential place and the Congress which is close to my sis. house, there are barbed wires....I thought that is pretty funny)....
Anyway, We started at 9:00AM. First stop. Food Of Course :P

(This is the most famous porrage place in Taipei). it's GOOD

Then....

we visited the National Museum.

(The museum is under renovation, so the collection is limited. but please note the HUGE ASS watch I am wearing...)

After the Museum. We headed to Taipei 101 and the AMAZING bookstore adjacnt to it

(The view from the top is amazing, and the Book Store....its one of the best I've seen anywhere....I can totally see Joann hanging out here form 9-5)

Day 3

Got back at Taipei late Tues night. Joan's also came back from China too. So she was kind enough to take me to try this Japanese BBQ place which I believe has the BEST BEEF BBQ I ever tasted. Too bad I left my camera at Tina's house and didn't take the pic....

Day 2

Day 2.

Today, I took a Long train ride with Tina and Mom to Hua-Lian to visit Jennifer who is current the ER M.D at Tsu Zi hospital (it's a Buddist Hospital). I had to wake up at 6:00AM to take the bus to Taipei, then from the Taipei train station for a 3 hour train ride to Hua Lian.

Hua Lian is a beautiful place (see pic.) and Jen is working at this Buddist Hospital. Everything about it is very simple and clean. a nice place I thought.

We spend two days in Hua-Lian. Tina rented a car and we were off exploring Taruko National Park while Jen is stuck in ER.

The Long Flight and Day 1

11-17
My flight didn't leave LA until 11:35PM. Singapore Air is definitely one of the top airlines in the world. The in flight movies and great services by the fight attendants made the 14 hour trip from LA to Taipei a little more bearable. I think I'll fly Singapore Air again next year when I go back around the same time.

Day 1 à11-19
Arrive at Taipei at 6:50AM. My aunt picked me up from the airport. She looks a little bit pissed here, but I think there's a reason for it. She had just the National Financial Management exam for government employees the day before (The good is that she actually passed the exam as I later found out) so now she is managing lots of more people. Good Job.

Back from Vacation....

Well folks, I am finally back from my 10-day vacation to my home land of Taiwan. Needless to say, I am tired. Here are some highlights of my travel journals and some pics of this trip.

World of Warcraft

Last weekend, the Twins of Torrance let me borrow the game. And since I have nothing planned today, I decided to give it a try. Pretty interesting game. I don't think I'll get addicted to it tho. It is too nice of a day outside to stay indoor playing computer game....

nontheless, the game is fun :P

Thanks Twins.

Watches....

Well. I have finalized my trip to Taiwan in Nov.
part of the fun of this trip is to go Watch Shopping....

which one do you guys like more???

Story of Starry Nights

Recently, I've been facinated by the artworks of Vicent Van Gogh. I actually had a artbook of all his works sitting at home for over 2 years. So this weekend, I started reading the book and it was quite interesting... Did you know that he actually painted two Starry Nights? I like the 1st one better (with the big dipper). it is less....how should I say it....Turbulent :P

Fridady the 13th....

Seeing that today is Friday the 13th, I thought it would be cool to list the top 5 scariest movies of all time (at least for me), drum roll please:

5. Friday the 13th- The episode where they were in the lakehouse was pretty creepy.

4. Holloween

3. IT - okay, it was a TV show, but the clown scared the heck out of me.

2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I really don't like the eerie motif of how the movie was filmed.

1. Seven - Absolutely one of the most disturbing film I've seen. but what a classic.

thoughts over the past year...

Its my birthday. And here are 10 reflection of the past year. These thoughts are gained through the culminations of knowledge I’ve gained from people around me over the past year. As you read them, you would probably know who I am talking about :P

Letting go - Sometimes, Letting go is the right thing to do. There will be people in your life that you are fond of and close with. But when it is time for you or for her to leave. Let it go. Let your logos win over your Eros. Like that Robert Palmer song every kind of people, it takes every kind of people to make the world go round, and amidst of all these people, you want a person who needs you too.
Family – Family comes first. As I aged. I realized your family (and your dogs) are the only one who will love you unconditionally
Work – Work is about the end. And successful ends starts with the drive and attitude. Good attitude makes work all that fun and exciting.
Vacation – For me, vacation is all about seeing different things and learning new cultures. It is also a great time for self reflection. I had a good vacation this year. It was during those quiet silent nights on the hotel balconies when my mind and directions go a lot clearer.
Youth – Needless to say, youth is escaping me. But what I have gained is
Sports – Triathlon is a sport that keeps you occupied. Good for the mind and the body. I’ll also make you a happy person.
Material good – Nice to have, trying to get more. But if I don’t need it, I don’t need to have it.
Friends – Friends are those who share the same value and interests as you. We are all getting older with our own families and lives, the moment we spend together are precious. As I get older, I am more selective about my friends.
Knowledge – I stalled somewhat in my desire to learn new things since I despise intellectuals, but that does not give me the right to not expand my horizon.
Eddie – with my Bday, I just gained another layer. But please be patient with me if you care. And in return, I will reciprocate. For those of you who values me, I will be there for you when you need me. If you don’t, and if I have no value add to your life. I will stay aloof and adrift.

Gin Martini vs. Vodka Martini

I've always wonder what is the difference between Gin Martini and Vodka Martini. So I did a little experiment last night.
I went to my local Ralph’s and bought the following:

1 bottle of Grey Goose Martini (750ML), $32
1 bottle of Bombay Sapphire, (750 ML)($24
Vermoth for Martini mix, $3
Olive with cheese inside, $3

With these ingredients, I went home and started mixing drinks for myself with my Pottery Barn mixer kit that the Banker got me a few years ago….

Here is the review: (after 2 glasses of martinis)

Grey Goose is seriously the smoothest vodka out there (better than Belvedere), and the martini that comes out of it is smooth, and taste almost ice like. Good stuff.

Bombay Sapphire on the other hand has a intereting aroma. The taste is a bit stronger, and not as good as Grey Goose. But I like it still.

New Hobby

My younger sister Stephanie and I went to Staples yesterday. We ended up buying two HUGE notebooks used for clipping newspaper and magazine articles.

I have always wanted to make a point of clip and save all the interesting stuffs I've read over the years and save them for future references. I think it would be a great hobby.

I've been an avid reader of the following magazine:

maybe I'll have a clip book for each magazine :P

1. The Economist - I love this mag. even when the magazine still approach the current world issue from more or less UK/US perspective.

2. Business Week - I can't follow WSJ since it runs too quickly. Bweek is good. I like it.

3. National Geographics - what can I say. I was hooked eversince they put the pics. of a Siberian Tiger in the snow on the cover a few years ago.

4. Cars and Driver/Road and Track - Its never a bad thing to think about my next car. ahh humm! Caymen.

5. Maxim/FHM - I read them for the articles and jokes :P The mags. fill with knowlege.

It's On!

Have you ever wonder if you are maximizing ALL that you can be?
Really, have you ever wonder what your physical limit is? and what is your mental capacity?

Well. I have exactly 1 year to find out! MasterLee and I have each put $500 entrusted the Banker to open a CD account.

After our 2007 LA Triathlon. Me and Him. Mano y. mano, the winner will take the $1050 and change.

I am excited. Isn't life all about becoming the Fastest! Smartest! Strongest! that you can possibly be?

I am so exited.

Another Tri Season is over

Well folks. Another Triathlon season is over. This year, I trained quite hard in May and June, then slacked off in July and August. I give myself C+ in both efforts and fortitude. But I know there is definitely room for grow.
Next year is the big enchilada! $500 on the line, and I can’t wait (Banker, I am sure MasterLee has wrote you the check already, I’ll write it today and give it to you when I see you next).

For the big race next year, I am just excited about the different training methods we’ll do. I am joining the OC tri club and will work on some fundamentals in the off season. Especially in the swim.

Now for some up coming winter projects (Oct~Dec):

1) GMAT (yeah yeah yeah, I know I am on the nth year of my 10 year program but hey, at least it’ll keep me busy)
2) Taiwan Trip (Nov. 18th to Nov 25th – I can’t wait to eat all those good food from the street vendors, too bad I won’t meet up with the guys since there’s schedule conflict with their Japan/Taiwan Trip)
3) Read more (for some strange reasons, I am beginning to have the thirst for knowledge again. Must be all those wikipedia.com readings during lunch time.
4) Learn how to cook better so I can invite friends over to showoff my new found skills.

So that is what single girls talk about....

Hahahaha!

I don't mean to pry. But there are three single girls (fairly attractive) in their mid 20s sitting right next to me as I was eating my dinner and update my blogs (about Narutomania). But I couldn't help to over hear their conversation...

intersting, so this is what single girls talk about.

The topics of conversation so far

  • Saying shits about other girls
  • Talking and evaluating guys, or guy friends they know (Guys, here is the main theme so far...apparently, these girls want guys who are a) mature but at the same time, sponteneous b) fun/popular yet sensative to the girl needs. and c) apparently, looks doesn't matter too much, he just needs to be up to par to their standards).... anyway, I think these girls have REALLY REALLY high standards :P Too highso and too good for me :P and most of the guy friends I know....

Well, its fun. I am done with my Lobster taco. Time to go home and watch Rockstar Supernova and play with my landlords little boy Anthony. I am teaching him how to high five today!

Narutomania

My 36 CD Naruto set, episodes 1 - 145 has finally arrived.

its Narutomania for the next few weeks! Ever since Masterlee introduced me to the cartoon, I am strangely fixiated by it.

on the comic side, I've just finish reading the secrets Saseke Uchida's recollection of what happend to his family. Man, that Itachi is one crazy MOFO. but I like him. I think he is probably the strongest character so far....

Anyway, if wish to borrow Naruto from me. Feel free to ask. Free of charge. Better yet, I can burn it for you, just bring me DVD.

Can't Decide...Can't Decide

AFter watching the bestest show on TV this summer, Rock Star Supernova for the past month and 1/2. Clearly, three rockers stand above the rest. They would all make great front man/woman for Supernova, if not, they ought to get record deals on their own.

Here are the ones who impressed me:

1. Dilana - She has been solid thruout. the best singer, performer of the group. she can do every type of rock with easy. from dark stuffs to the likes of Radio Head, Depeche Mode, the the Classics like Hendrix, Door, to U2, Nervana etc. etc. she could do it all. I hope her recent comment didn't hurt her.

2. Magni - My number two. He is a great singer. capable of performing every song. Great stage presence. what seperates him (slightly) from Dilana is that he lacks a little (just a little) bit of fire that American type rock band needs....maybe its because he's icelandic. He would make a great front man in any band.

3. Toby - The Aussie grew on me over the weeks. He has great energy. Great voice. but he's more like a pop star than a rock star....his style fits more with the image concious bands of today...

Well, those are my top threes. they would all be great.

What I would like to see them perform next week:

1. Dilana - "only happy when it rains" by the Garbage or "Malibu" by the Holes.
2. Magni - "With or Without you" by U2 ( this would be a hard one), or the Zypher song by Red hot chilli peppers, or again by lenny kravitz
3. Toby - more billie idol please. bunny or echoman would do "Sugar kisses", "The killing moon" .

i can't decide who to vote for...

Changes

A few things I learned in the past week.

1. Life is a amazing journey that
no one should take it for granted. Do what you want to do
for yourself, good decisions or not, ACT, and don't stand idol,
don't let any min. flee by....along the way, also cherish the ones that you love
and loves you.

2. Your friends. There are the ones that you keep for life. and there are period
pieces. The ones you keep for like, you should know by now. and the period
pieces, they come and go. When it is time for them to go, let it.

Watch in the Toilet

Alot of things has happend over the past few weeks. My life sure is not boring I can say that :P

I dropped my beloved Triathlon Watch (Ironman edition) in the toilet the other day and flushed it.

Called the plumber today and they could not get it out. Turns out that I need a new toilet.

So I will be shopping for a new throne afterwork today :P

60 Min. Interview

I hope everyone had the chance to watch the 60 Minuites Inverview by George Wallace with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran. It was truly a funny interview....good to watch. you can catch it on CSPAN as well....

I think he is smarter then George W :P

Darn it.

Here are the links to some excerpts from the interview:

Great Sunday BBQ

I had a Great Sunday.

Since I got them monkeys off my back, I am a lot calmer and at ease with myself. It is a good feeling.

Sunday, I hosted a BBQ and invited close friends to come by. I had fun. Though I only served BBQ Beef ribs and Heiniken light beer, you know, the real man food, I thought the BBQ was an overall smash (sorry Spiderwoman, I didn’t know that you don’t eat beef. So guys, next time when I have one, tell me what you want and I’ll prepare it specifically).

That morning. Masterlee also came down from da hood to train. We did our usual mile swim (under 32 min.); 25 mile bike ride, but had to cut short our run because of the time crunch to my BBQ.
By measuring myself against the Master. I know I’ve definitely improved on my swim, but again, the Good Master has been very sick lately, so I don’t know how valid is my time improvement really. And to be honest, I was quite impressed by his swim time in spite of his lingering cold. Scary. But there are still few weeks to go to make some last min improvements. My goal is still to be at par with the Master coming out of the water; If I can see him out of water, I have a shot. I’ve been focusing on my run this year too (no more Estella Warren distraction).

We shall see…

Okay, who is taking bets this year….

Will this finally be Sonic’s year to shine? Or will the Master overcome his ailment and retain his title?

Find out on 9/10 and 9/17 at the LA and Malibu Triathlon!

Se La Vi

Life is funny sometimes.

When you think things couldn't go any worse. Almost certainly it will.
The process of feeling the free fall down is perhaps the hardest to accept.
But on a bright side, these months long feeling of free falling has finally ended. Yesterday was the rock bottom, so starting today. its nothing but upswing!!
It is time for a new chapter. I think the monkey is finally off my back.

Hollywood Bowl Part 4

Spend Saturday at Hollywood Bowl with the Real Estate SUPERSTAR, The She-Eye Doc. it was fun. Though I was not a Celtic Music Fan, I did enjoy the very Tutonic introduction by Mendelssohn. it is almost Wagneric, which is full of Dramatic and unrelenting melodies (yes, I AM VERY CULTURED! IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW THAT BY NOW). Anywho. Though I could be snubbish about my Music taste, I did also enjoy the fiddler performance. a) The performer was pretty cute and b) the music is actually good too....

Anywho. for those of you who's coming to my PokerQ Sunday. Remember to bring cash to donate to Feed the Sonic Foundation.

Need a Vacation

Today, I suddenly got the urge of doing one of those sojourning trips like I use to do when I was younger. So I've decided to take the first three days of the Thanksgiving Week off and just do a Sojourning trip off to somewhere:

Tentative destinations:

1) Taiwan - Go home to visit my family and maybe hanging out with The master, Da Bull Family and the twins at hotspring somewhere.

2) Nice, FR - visit my aunt and just chill at their pad.

3) Namibia - Skeleton Desert. I really want to do this, need to figure out how to get there tho...

RockStar Supernova

Another Great show! (Man, I am watching lots of TV lately aren't I).

This is definitely better than American Idol. and I think in general, the singing quality is better too.

Watch out for Strom "Susan" Large. she is hot! and could sing too!

Worst Week at Work...

I had perhaps my worst week in my professional life ever. Made some critical errors in key areas pertaining to my job function, and to the wellbeing of the business in general. What irritates me is that these errors are simple careless mistakes that I have no excuses for. I am seriously pretty down on myself right now and am spending today and tomorrow just trying to figure out a way to climb out of this funk. I must find someway, somehow to get my acts together and not make these stupid mistakes. If I don’t make improvements soon. I’d quite personally.

Next week is another week…

Corinne Bailey Rae

Pay attention to this artist. Corinne Bailey Rae. Just heard her song the other day on VH1 and immediately her voice captivated me. Her voice is a mixture of Macy Gray and Billie Holliday. and this one song of hers really has a calming effect on my tempest mood right now.

As if she is saying "its all right, you've been foresaken; so forsake what was never there, and never will be, and let it go."

Gypsy Kings no more?

I was so looking forward to my concert next week to my favorite Flamenco Guitar group – the incomparable Gypsy Kings. I have two great tickets, but now, I am not sure if I can go at all.
I might have to entertain a group of client who is flying in next week for a 3 day meeting. And my VP wants me to have dinner with them on the same day!

What a bummer. I really wish I could go. Good stuff like this don’t come around often. I also really wish the person I really want to take to the concert could make it too :P Good art and music needs to be shared, and I am sure she’d enjoy it.

Well, keep my fingers crossed.

Vespa

Lately, I am seeing lots of these little scooters around my hood. This morning, I saw a guy riding on Alton in a brown, shiny old school Vespa. It looks so cool. makes me want to get one!

Steak Dinner

I can't remember the last time I cooked...but after a long and tiring day, I decided to cook myself a mean old steak. Those Laury's steak salt and special steak sauce really came in handy...
so I had a steak, an egg, some rice, a glass of pretty good wine, and some ice cream and flavored tea after dinner. It was good.

10 Things....

Had lunch with a mentor this weekend who is a psychiatrist right now (A serious one I may add, a Harvard Grad. ala Dr. Frazier Crane)

Anyway, Dr. Frazier raised a simple proposition during our long lunch and coffee session. The proposition raised is for me to list things that I enjoy about my “present” and the reasons why. And in 6 month, re think the list to see if these things are still the same...

Well, after giving it some thought, here are mine:

  • Triathlon - Triathlon training gives me a sense of purpose. swimming, cycling and running, it actually clears my mind and make me feel more at peace with myself. Its a good feeling to see how my body is slowly changing too.

  • Spending time with Dad and my dogs during weekends - I enjoy going back to SG in the weekends and just spend the day hanging out at home with my dad and walk my two dogs. Its a nice feeling to have, very private and very personal.

  • Work - I am finally getting a handle of what I am doing. I like what I do and I like the people I work with and work for. and that is a great feeling.

  • World Cup Soccer - Team Italia I have been idolizing Roberto Baggio and Alessandro Del Piero. Class act the both of them.

  • Chinse Classis (Currently re-reading historical documents during the War Lord period in the late Zhou dynasty) - I love history. I am especially pround of my Chinese heritage. It is really great and amazing, I just wish more of the people my age would appreciate it.

  • Rowing and Dragon Boating - wanted to do it after watching the notebook. and actually went to a Dragon Boat practice last week. it was fun.

  • Risk - LOTR edition is the best. Great way to kill time.

  • Night Crusing - Summer nights on PCH with sunroof open is the best.

  • Verve Remixed (Nina Samon, Billie Holliday, Astro Gilberto, Etta James) - Listen and you'll know.

  • Heineken Light - The 2nd best beer in the world.

Well, that is about it.

early morning swim awaits me again....

G'night

Azzurri in the Finals! Viva Italia!

Viva Italia! Viva Azzurri! Italy 2 - Germany 0

I lost my voice today because I was screaming so loud.
(btw, why do I cheer for Italy you might ask? Don't you know that I am 1/12th Italian? just look at my skin color :P J/K hee hee)

Cruising....

Took a long night drive thru Ortega highway tonight just because I felt like it. next thing I know, I was in Temucula. The road was winding and narrow, it may be dagerous to drive on it, but somehow, it felt good. The stars in the sky, was lighting my way tonight. And I never felt so alive before....

It was a good day. and I am all rejuvinated.

Training Days...

My Coworker "Steady" Steph finally got her Felt bike. Its a nice looking bike! Looks like she is really going to put the hammer down this year. And I think she'll do well, afterall, she is a Marathoner.

It seems like our lives revolve around working and training only. but unfortunately, she's got a commute from Mahattan Beach....I really wonder how she did it....
good thing there are lots of advantage for owning a Prius. :P
