The song that stuck in my head...

Spent almost 1/2 hour with a coworker looking for a song which has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days. After humming the songs endless times. I finally got.

The song is called "You and Me" by Life House. I am sure you've heard it on 98.7 before:

it goes something like this (good lyric don't you think?)

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

and it's you and me and all of the people
with nothing to doNothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive

18 Years and counting...

Do you remember where you were on this day 18 years ago?
I can On this day, 5/31/1988. I landed in LA and started my life in America. I still remember saying to my dad as I looked thru the windows of LAX how blue the sky is in America, which is true, on a good day, there is really no blue sky prettier than LA sky.

What About Bananas

Is it me or are the bananas nowadays taste like shit?
I went to Albertson’s last night looking for fresh veggie and fruits (I am all about eating healthy now since I started my Tri. Training).
And I had a banana this morning after the morning swim and the darn thing tastes like TOOTHPASTE!
This is not the first time that I had the banana that tastes like TOOTHPASTE! Which let me to believe that the juicy, colorful, FRESH looking, that you see in the supermarket are on Steroids!!!!

That is how they look bigger, fresher and better. But when it comes down to taste, it tastes like TOOTHPASTE!

Gattaca

Watched the movie for the nth time last night.
If you haven’t seen Gattaca, do give it a try, you will be wonderfully surprised.

There is this scene/line in the movie that I can’t get enough of, and here is how it plays out:

Scene overview: Vincent (the main character who is naturally born with genetic heart flaws but refused to accept his fate as a degerate in the world) is racing his brother Anton (who is genetically engineered to have a better life and a higher social status) in a swim showdown towards the end of the movie:

Anton (panicing in the water): Vincent, we have to go back, we are too far out.

Vincent (shouting back): No! Anton, we are not stopping, keep going… You want to know how I did it? You want to know how I beat you? This is how I did it Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back…

That was a powerful scene.

So the moral of the story. (hit the pool and practice, hit the road and practice, hit the track and practice until you have nothing left and keep on going more..) that is how you do it! That is Life.

I GOT SOCCER FEVER

Go Azzurri ma ma mia!

Countdown to FIFA World Cup and I am getting a fever, SOCCER FEVER!!!

Since China didn’t make it to this year’s World Cup, I am cheering for my imaginary adopted homeland of ITALY. Go Team Italia.
Though Roberto Baggio has long retired, this year’s team still features two great players. Allessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti will lead the team AZZURRI to a championship over the hated SAMBA football of Brazil.

Eat your heart out Eye Doctor, Brazil shall bow down to the mighty power of AZZURRI.

Ginger Tea

Just one of things I miss about Bali. The Honey Ginger Tea at the hotel ( photo not acurate

depiction of the actual tea). The tea is best served hot in an air conditioned room.

Morning Humor

My Coworker has been bringing some healthy breakfast snacks for us to eat in the morning. Recently, we are in the oatmeal phase, and we discovered that on each of the oat meal pack, there are funnies.

These two are my favorite:

Q: Why are NBA Players so cool?
A: Because they sit right next to the fans.

Q: What are the two things you can never have for breakfast?
A: Lunch and Dinner

Great Night!

After 5 and ½ hour of Basketball, 4 Sapporo beers, 2 bags of cheetos and 1 quart of ice cream, my great night of basketball is finally over. Congratulations Dallas Mavericks! Congratulations Phoenix Suns. You guys played like champions. The Spurs and Mavs series was honestly the best 7 games of basketball I have ever watched. There are no losers in the series. And the same goes to the Suns/Clippers series. Thank you San Antonio Spurs and thank you t LA Clippers! You guys played like champions too. Especially to the Clippers. I can’t wait to see what you guys can do next year!

Okay, I am buzzed and tired. Hitting the bed now. Gotta wake up at 6:00 tomorrow to swim…hopefully I can get up.

GAME 7!

Can you say “DO OR DIE”

This year’s NBA playoff has been amazing. I can’t wait for the pair of Game 7s tonight!

I am planning to Veg. out in front of the TV ALL night. (5:30PM to 11:00PM BABY) Drink some ice cold… Sapporo (Mitsuwa ran out of Asahi),
Have some chips, noodles, Big Fat Burgers, and more beers and just Veg out!

Goals!

You heard it here first folks,
I am targeting a 2 hours and 46 min finish time in this years Olympic Distance LA Triathlon!

Swim – Improve on my digs and navigation skills. I want to finish the mile swim in 35 min
Bike – Avg. 20 MPH. I should finish the 25 mile bike in 1:15
Run – Stay focused and don’t get distracted by EW and keep at an easy 8:20 mile pace, should finish the 6 mile run run in 51 min

I am all excited now!!!

I AM A DIVER!!

Finally, I got my PADI certification!
I am officially a Scuba Diver now. Though I did not see Sharks nor Sea Turtles in my 3 day diving course at the lovely island of Bali. I did see lots of Nemos and had near death (well, maybe not) experience with a 10 feet long (more like 3 feet long). Sea snake.

Here are some thoughts about diving:

1. It is a different world down there. It feels like you are in a different environment.

2.Do Shore dive if possible. Or get on a BIG Boat. Small boat ride sucks, especially if you had to travel 40 min. to the dive site.

3. Reefs and Corals feel like sponge…don’t know why I add this one here…

Do Do

I had to take this picture! This is DoDo's face after he had done something bad. Because I was out of the country for a while, I haven't been taking him on a walk in the weekends, so this past Sunday morning, he pooped at the front door of my room. and I caught him red handed...
Little punk...

Eddie Robin Hood

Woke up early Sat. morning to go to the Archery Range. It was my first time, and I actually found out I am pretty good at it!

At the end of the class around, the instructor tied a balloon with $1 in it 30 ft away and asked us to shoot at at. I was the first one up and "boom" Bulls Eye!

I think I am going to get myself a set of bow and arrows!

Montage Resort

Went to The Montage Resort for a client dinner last night. The place is REALLY really ostentatious over looking the waters of Laguna Beach. The dinner was great and went from 6 to 9:30. My VP and the Client Buyers provided most of the entertainment for the night. There are tons of gossips and good information to go around which kept the table lively (somehow, all my monkey stories got into the mix…again).

Though Montage is an amazing place to impress a date, somehow I don’t feel quite comfortable there. It is so formal and high society. Something that is definitely not me. For me, Good places to take a girl out or hanging out with friends are simple and warm places. A nice conversation over a bowl of $6 pho; A good laugh over a set of spicy Korean BBQ; or a ice cold bottle of Asahi at my favorite (you guessed it) Furaibo in HH would be perfect.

Irresponsible Parenting...

Irresponsible parenting

Went to the pool last night for my usual 1 mile swim. The pool was less crowded than usually (maybe it’s because the weather hasn’t been the greatest for the past couple of days) so I was able to increase my cadence a little and manage to finish the 1600M swim just over 30 min.

When I got out of the pool. I found myself all alone in the Woodbridge Swimming Club, but then I heard a kids voice behind me (no, this is not one of those Ring moment), and when I turned around, I saw a little girl playing all by herself in the kitty pool right next to the main pool. And her parents are nowhere to be seen. I was terrified. What if little kid accidentally fall in the main pool and drown.

So I asked her where her parents are and she said she don’t know….so I just opened up my bottle of Gatoraid and waited there with her. Finally after about 15 min. her parents finally returned. Turns out that they were just picking up a neighbor’s kind in the next block and thought the lifeguard would be there. They thanked me for looking out for their kid.
But what irresponsible parents.

Anyway, I think I am also catching a cold from that little germ factory too. Sucks...

Mother's Day Present?

Mother’s Day is coming up. For the first time in a long while, I actually remembered the exact date of this year’s Mother’s Day. And fortunately my mom happens to be in town for her Visa visit this year too.

To show my appreciation, I decided to buy my mom a little present this year. So last Saturday, after a well rested sleep from my jetlag, I went out to go gift shopping.

To be honest, I have no clue to what would be a good present for my mom, so after about 1 hour of shopping around, I decided to get her a Coach handbag (not too cheap so it would defeat the good intention and not too expensive live the LV bags so that she would say that I am wasting money), and I am pretty proud of my taste too (I bought her something I would carry if I were a woman or a super metrosexual).

With the handbag on hand, I got all excited and promptly drove home so I can give my mom the present.

Well, to my surprise, when she saw the handbag, she first thanked me for remembering Mother’s day. But she then promptly send me back to the mall to exchange for a bigger one (at my cost!!!) she said the bag I got her is “too small” and not practical…
Women and handbags! What can you do?…

Now, I just need to convince mom to stay until Sunday so I can take a long walk with her in Huntington Library and talk about life followed by our usual Sunday brunch whenever she is in town.

Meat Craving

I’ve been having cravings for a big juicy steak lately. Originally, I had planned to visit my local Outbacks this weekend to satisfy my craving, but after my swim practice yesterday, I just couldn’t wait anymore. So I called up a friend, and we ended up visiting an Outback Steakhouse in Fullerton… After a juicy steak and a glass of red wine, I am satisfied.

Refreshed!

Slept from 6:00PM last night to 5:30AM this morning. Needless to say, I am feeling completely refreshed from my long journey!

After eating a banana, I went jogging around the lake. It was nice to see the ducks are still there. The 40 min. jog brings back memory of my Tri training days last year, and reminds me that I need to start with the regiment again. I can't wait for those Sat. training sessions in the summer with The Master, Spiderwoman, Mr. Bull and Jellyfish. I am filled with excitment now!
