Human Charity

For those of you who knows me me, you probably know that I never donate to Human charity (if you would want me to recite the reasons, I'll be more than happy to do so). But this year, I am going to make my one and only exception.

The charity that I am donating to is It is called "The SmileTrain" www.smileTrain.org. You can learn more about in in the link I provided.

Why donate to a charity helping children with Cleft Lips you ask?

Well, here is the whole story behind it:

Years ago in a trip to Bali. I remember on one particular morning as I was sitting outside the belcony reading, I stumbled upon a story in the newspaper on orphans in Indonesia, and the picture the newspaper shown is actually of a young girl about the age of 5 ~7 with cleft lip. She was smiling. Despite her cleft lip, it was one of the best smile I've seen. Full of hope, optimism and innocence.

I tried to save the cutout to that particular charity as I was packing for home later that week. However, somewhere along the way, I lost that cut out.... Until today when I stumbled upon it again.

Well, that is the whole story of my human charity.

Also, don't forget the charity to my number one passion. Tigers.

you can find out more on that at: http://www.savethetigerfund.org/

Chasing the impossibility?

What should one do when faced with the dilemma of chasing what is in fact impossibility?
Should one continue to fight fight? Or should one just move on and let go?

I think, the degree to which one clings on, really depends on that simple thing called the state of mind. Sometimes, the fight is worth it, no matter how futile you know the result will be and process itself is rewarding enough to remember for a life time. yet sometimes, tis better to let go and just move on.

Great movie. Watched it last night out of sheer bordom. But to my surprise, I find it hillarious and....insightful lol

Lights Out

There was a power outage in Irvine tonight. So I decided to take my mom out . We went to the Westfield Mall in Arcadia and had dinner and shopped there (remind me never never go shopping with mom ever again). I donno where she gets so energetic when it comes to shopping, while I was freezing my ass off in the 46 degrees night, mom rolled up her sleeve and marched across the mall....

Regardless, it was a fun night. The feel of Christmas is definitely in the air.

oh, the winner of my "Gayest Xmas song" survey is.....

"Last Christmas" By Wham!!! by a vote of 21 to 3.

I don't care what y'all say, I still like that song. I play it every year around this time....melocholy song ^-*

Guitar, Yoga, Curry,Remy, and Take Five

Never thought I would connect those four words together in a single sentence ^_^. but...

  • I had my first guitar lesson today, learned G cord and E cord today. I think I need to get a pick and a tuner very soon (my guitar is out of tune). I just wish one day soon I can play that song "Wonderwall" by Oasis, which by the way is one of the coolest song EVER! (BTW, pop quiz. What do you guys think Wonderwall means?)
  • Yoga again....I think at least it is helping me stretch, hopefully this will help me recover from my training pains better come next year.
  • Decided to cook Chicken curry for dinner tonight. Took me close to 45 min. But it was DELICIOUS. I so wish someone other than myself get a chance to taste this super awesome cooking tonight.
  • Oh, after dinner, I opened up a bottle of Remy Martin that I had bought a while ago, and just sat and chill in my shag living room (after another 1/2 hour of guitar practice that is). and listen to Dave Burback's take five and other jazzy tune. It felt good :)

Best (Or Gayest) Christmas Song

Which one is a better (or gayer) Christmas tune?

"Last Christmas" by Wham

OR...

"All I want for Christmas is you" by Mariah Carey???

I like them both....so gay, so gay....

Social...chores

Had a nice dinner and movie with a lovely and thoughtful friend tonight. In a cold and rainy wintery night like this, it is nice to just chill and relax with a positive and warm hearted person to have fun and not think about anything at all ^_^

And as we share our life experiences over the past couple of month, and of our recent trips to the Far East and Europe. I find that we both have become more appreciative of what we have. Yet at the same time, more keane about things that needs to change too (but in a mellow and positive way...hard to expalin the connection of these two words)

And now as I sit in my couch reflecting on the experiences of my last trip in the middle of the might. I can't help but feel that it is so refreshing, especially in LA today, to know people like this.

Its late now. G night.

Raining and Starving....

It's finally raining....which makes me quite happy.

but today, I forgot my wallet! I think I may have left it with my friend after our weekly happy hour last night. If that is the case, I will have no money today to do anything....scary thought.

The company is sponsoring a company lunch. gotta go grab lots of food now for lunch and dinner...

Japan Here I come...

Day 3

Spent the day visiting the country side. Then back to Taipei in the afternoon for some shopping.

the word of the day is....Breast. Yes sir, Breast.

Seems like people in Taiwan are OBSESSED with Breasts, and they are not afraid to show them off (some pics to come shortly).

But breasts..... yup.

Day 2

Went to Eslite Book store this morning next to the 101. I gotta say, it is a pretty awesome book store. I spent the morning reading my favorite manga books with a cup of whatumaycallit coffee that tasted pretty good... nice R&R

For lunch, I ate with my landlord Shannon, her hubby Thomas. We actually drove into the moutain to a remote village where they serve, I gotta say, the best tasting chicken and bac choi EVER. I think the fresh mountain air and the happy farmers made the difference.

Well, I am very rest up now (after my afternoon stone massage and 1 hour in the outdoors tub).

time to hit the bed. tomorrow will be another awesome day here in Taipei I am sure.

Day 1

Well folks. After 14 hours of grueling flight. I am finally here in Taipei relaxing by the bedside in my sister’s singles pad doing some long overdue R&R. Getting here wasn’t easy either. Turned out that my ghetto ass sister completely FORGOT to pick me up at the airport. So I had to spend an extra 3 HOURs sitting at the arrival’s lounge. Anyway, needless to say I was pretty pissed. But I am still glad to see the family.

Day 1 – Spent today learning how to get around the town via the subway system. It was pretty cool. I think I know my way pretty well in Taipei. I went to the biggest bookstore in Taiwan and spent most of the morning there. Reading (not checking out the hot chicks here). Then I went to do some shopping to buy stuffs for sis and mom. I can’t remember the last time I walked so much.
Tomorrow, I am going to 3-1 spa that I went last year do get a massage, a nice brunch, and spend some time in the hot spring there….like what I did last year with Joann. Should be awesome.

K gotta get something to eat now.

Fobby Sonic Proverb

Here is a fobby proverb from Sonic:

The meaning for the journey of life is like polishing a newfound gemstone.
The goal is to polish it so it gets brighter, not to polish it to make it smaller.

Therapy

1) Nice wine
2) cool and mellow peeps to shoot the shits with
3) Some Mo-town and jazzy jazz tunes
4) High quality weeds (j.k)

Now, that is therapy. I am all better now :P

Can't wait for my R&R in TW and JPN starting next Fri. I can just imagine the stupid fun we'll have if CH decides to comes along :P

Deep fried sausages, fatty porks on rice, spicy chicken nuggets, and of course, Stinky tofus.
here I come!!!!

K. now I am feeling better. need to get some rest now. Long weekend coming up :P

Workday Blues....

Today is DEFINITELY definitely not a good day at work. I will not go into the details of it, but all I can stay is that the BS that is going on now is not making Eddie Happy.

Don't be surprised if there are some alternative plans coming up soon.

Tent and the Great Outdoors

As I was sitting on my throne doing my business this morning looking over sunrise. I can’t help but think. With the immanent global warming, I am not sure how many more years there will be when “nature” disappears. It would be a shame if I don’t enjoy it more. Therefore, I have decided that I want to be, or at least try to be, a outdoorsman.

First thing to do. Buy a tent and actually stay out in the wilds….

Thoughts from Wooden...

Some excerpts from John Wooden.

Character is what you REALLY are. Reputation is what people say you are. Character is how you react to things --Sensibly withoug getting carried away by yourself or your circumstances. A person of character is trust worthy and honest and the type worth while to be in your life.

I believe and know those that I cared about lots are persons of character :P

Most all good things come thru adversity. There's a poem that says:

Looking back it seems to me,
All the grief that had to be
Left me when the pain was o'er
Stronger than I was before.

I believe that. We get stronger when we are tested. Adversity can make us better. and there will always be people of chracter standing alongside us every step of the way.

Its late, and I must head to bed now....early flight tomorrow to San Jose for day buz trip....it'll be fun to see the Acer folks again :P

Strategery

Today, for the first time in a long time, I am thinking about the word "Strategery" First made famous by our lovely dubya president.

To me, Strategery means getting the best out come and thinking about all the possible outcome and options about the actions or things you are about to do. There's stategery in all of us, and I think, i think, it is time that I pay a little bit more attention on it. We'll see how the outcome goes.

Music Review Night....

Today, I am going to review a new CD that I just purchased from Best Buy for $12.99 The group is called “Yeah Yeah Yeahs” and the album is called Show your bones. I came across this CD while playing the game Singsar Amped. They are a punk band. Fairly unique sound:

Gold Lion – 8.5/10. The main song of to the album. This song has as mystic feeling to it, in an eerie way too. I have no idea what she is singing about (God maybe i.e. Aslan in Narnia, Fire maybe since it is talking about the Gold Lion). But all in all, a well constructed song in terms of Musical composition. Great drum, great guitar, great vocal and energy. Karen O did a good job of vocal control. Still, I am still not sure about the meaning of the lyrics. The MTV looked pretty cool. Did I mention that Karen O looked and sounded high.
Way out – 8.5/10. A great follow up song. Immediately started off punkish and builds up very fast. Pure punk. This one and the previous song gets you high. Sonds a lot like a song from the Cranberries. Those crazy Irish singers.
Fancy – 4/10. Don’t like it.
Phenomena – 7/10. This is has a heavy metal flavored song.
Honeybear – 6/10. Reminds me of sounds of the 60s and Clash with all the miffs. The song is broken out into section. Militaristic.
Cheated Hearts – 6.5/10. The opening vocal reminds me of the Pretenders. The chorus takes a while to build up. The lyric does not make sense, (but again, with song title as Gold Lion, what else makes sense). Not a band song to just sing alone to. The guitar rift in the middle and towards the end is a failure to me.
Dudley – 6/10. Opened like a 80s happy pop rock. Pretty ordinary construction of lyric and song. Towards the end, the tune becomes more interesting and vibrant. Good song to drive alone with.
Mysteries – 5/10. Pure punk. Female answer to that NY style punk band “The Strokes”. You know, the band that produced such great hit as “Last Night”.
The sweets – 5/10. A bit slow. Not my favorite. Detuned Cranberries.
Warrior – 7/10. Indie flavored. Something I picture myself listening in a coffee shop in Pasadena with all the Cal Tech brainiacs. The song builds itself up though.
Turn into – 7.8/10. Starts off like a Indie style song. Builds up pretty fast. Not bad. Has the signature Yeah Yeah Yeah guitar rift.

All in all, I think this album gets a 7/10. Not a bad one. Letmme know if you want a copy. It’s late, but tomorrow, I will review Creedence Clearwater Revival that my friend introduced me to today. It is beyond my years, but as I listen to the tunes, not bad….not bad at all. Awesome guitar. Old people knows how to rock too….wow. I feel like smoking and drinking out to those tunes now….WOW

Long weekend

What a long weekend. I can't remember the last time that I stayed out so late on Thur., Fri., and Sat. It is actually quite draining.

I think I had fun with all the events I did this weekend. But I think I enjoyed the silly ones the most.

Damn crabs....

The Rain...

Just got back from the jazz club tonight. And I find myself strangely sleepless, and am sitting by the window listen to the rain. It is certainly a welcoming sign that the rain is falling agin. and listening to it in a welcoming silence with a glass of wine and cigarette is absolutely a welcoming moments of tranqility....

am going to rest up. Cabana room tomorrow :P looks like its going to be another long social night LOL

One of Those Days....

Do you guys ever have one of those days where it started off great but soon after went downhill every single min. after that, to the point that you just wish everyone around you would just disappear!?

Well, Without going into details, today is one of those day....and it lead me to question about all sorts of things about my life....

But for strange reasons, life seems to always throw you a bone when you are least expected.

Thanks for the suprising call and gift Ms. Ivy league =) (love the CD BTW) You really crack me up and put things into perspective. Thanks for listening to me and to making me laugh tonight. Next time you are in town, I am definitely taking you out somewhere nice =)

Big Sis Lovin'...

As I get older, I find myself cherishing moments with my family more and more. Hillarious as sometimes my family members may be, it is just awesome to have them in my life.

Got a call from Big Sis today from TW around 11:00AM my time (which is about 2AM her time in Taipei) wishing me a happy 31. I thought that was way cool for her to do that and it reminded me of what she got me for my 13th bday long ago.

I got a super nintendo from her that year. Thinking back now, it was a pretty cool thing she did to buy her spoiled little bro that since the system, back then, costs $200 and she was working part time at a video store maying $5/hour. so that is like her 2 weeks salary.

thanks TC for putting up with your little bro. Love ya!

New CD...

New CD coming out soon....I can't wait :P

Lucky number sleven

I think lately, I am having pretty good luck in gambling.
There was the happy hour a few weeks ago where I ended up on the final table, and last Friday, I won another $1300 in the Casino.

Hummm! I think God is compensating me for my sorry ass love life lately :P

I am buying $3 lottery every single week now :P

Autumn thoughts about life…

It finally feels like Autumn. Smells like it to (I am probably the only person who "smells" the seasons). Usually, this is the time of the year when I get into my reflective hermit mode and go hybernate. But we'll see if this year I will stay out and play...for a little longer...

Here are some thoughts that went through my head last night and I sat on my sofa enjoying the cool autumn night breeze...
  • In life, you won't always get what you want. When that happens, keep trying, but also remember to have a back up plan ready (sounds like Yogism doesn't it?)
  • Always, Always in these autumn months, find some time to drive along PCH, alone. It is best to do it in the afternoon, from Malibu to Newport with some good music (Dave Mathew's Band, Coldplay, Radio head, Keanes, Marvin Gaye are some of my recommendations, trust me, it is soothing
  • If you plan to travel abroad in these autumn month, try to take a few moment and just sit near the window (the ones facing the runway) with your ipods, a cup of coffee and just people watch and feel the moments and people watch, it'll put everything in perspective. (Norita have some great windows! btw)
  • At our age, we should not eat too many eggs....1/day or 1 every other day is recommended. more veggies and fruits
  • I should start playing tennis or run more. If I don't keep up, laziness will show in both mind and soul
  • Singstar is the best game ever....

Longest Happy Hour...

Well folks, let let leme tell you the story of the longst happy hour there ever was....

As I was about to step into my Irvine rent-a-pad after a long and frustrating work week last Friday, I got a phone call.

"Yo, what are you doing?", the voice said.
"Nothing much, thinking of going running in a bit, whatz up?"
"We are in Maki Maki in the Spectrum, wanna come?", the voice asked.
"Ney, I am tired, its been a long week"
"Just come by, we've been here since 430, come, we have saved some sake for you already", the voice insisted.
'Fine....I'll be there in 10."

What went down after that will be remembered as "The Happy Hour of 2007"

So, after 20 min. of trying to find a parking spot in the Specturm and another 15 wondering where the heck Maki Maki is, I finally arrived at my destination. And to no one's suprise, I found 3 drunks and 1 DD (not by choice of course). After a heartly greetings (and offerings) of a few bottle of Sakes, we postulated:

"So what are we gonna to do?"
"I donno, its only 7:45"
"Lets go somewhere!"
"Where?"
"Vegas?"
"No, too far away"
"TJ?"
"Shit, I am not driving there"
"humm..."
"Lets go gamble in Pechanga!"
'Yeah, they have a nice bar there, we can drink there too"
"Okay...."

So the 5 of us packed ourselves into my little Lexus and off we went to Pechanga....(the DD drove of course, since I am a super light weight drinker, especially with Sakes)

Fast forward to 1:00AM Saturday morning. After our traditional runs of blackjack table, slot machines, pawgaw table, and of course the craps table, and oh, did I mention the none stop trips to the bar.

We postulated again...

"humm, should we go home, its getting late?"
"Yeah, I am tired too"
"Booo, party poopers"
"Check this out, there is a poker Tournement tomorrow , 7K total winnings, not bad"
"Wanna do it"

"Lets do it"
"Hell no"
"Comeon, you know you want to do it, tell you what, lets toss a coin, heads we stay, tails we go home"
"F#*kers....fine"

So....
Back to the casino we went.

Fast forward to 4:00AM

After more drinking, gambling, and occassional suggestion by one of us that we should bum some happy grass from the brothers sitting in the next table to make the night complete. We realized that we should get some rest before the tournment starts....

and just with our luck, the receptionist at the check in desk informed us the place is sold out (Pechanga sold out!?! go figure), but fortunately there is a Hamton Inn close by....but with our diretion sense, we of course didn't find our hotel until 5:00AM in the morning....

Fast forward to 10:00AM Saturday morning.

Tournement starts. All 5 of us entered the 380 people tournement pale faced as we paid the $25 entree fee. By now we were all hoping for a quick exit...

2:30pm, Saturday

I found myself, together with one friend, in the FINAL TABLE of the tournment!!!!
I finished 17th! btw, and my friend actually came in 1st. My hope for a quick exit was obviously dashed, but hey, it's kinda fun....

4:30pm, Saturday. Spectrum parking lot.

"Thanks for driving Eddie, wanna get something to eat?"
"I feel like eating Japanese food"
"Lets go to Maki Maki and get some drinks too"
"Hell no!"

Then I drove off.... thus cocluding the longest happy hour ever.

I am not going to hang out with those bunch anytime soon for sure....

House Hunting....

Spent all day yesterday house hunting. what was planned as only a quick morning tour of the Riverbend in Orange turned into an all day event. I think I must have toured all the new communities in Tustin/Orange/Anaheim Hills/Irvie area. It was especialy tiring after climbing all those damn stairs. But the constant replenishment of food from Pho'99 to jumba juice to Korean BBQ made the day alot more bearing...

http://www.centexhomes.com/Orange-County/

After looking at all the communities. I like the Riverbend in Orange the most. The banker had warned me that the neighborhood is not as nice as Irvine, which I agrees, but the school district is actually the Villa Park highschool, which is a pretty good district (no, I am not planning ahead already, I am merely making the point to emphasis the value prop of the neighborhood). Also, there are lots of renovations in the neighborhood....so who knows, maybe The City of Orange will be the place where Sonic buys his first "Real" home. play it by ears. if it happens, it'll happen in the next year.

What do Woman want!?!

Relating to the previous topic.

I've been fortunate (or unfortunate depending on people’s perspective) to have know many amazing girls in my life. Thinking back about these girls, I realized that: a) The ones I choose to play a part in my life all have that unique “kaiga” (loosely translated to “style” or “attitude”) making them super attractive, not just to me I am sure, but to all the guys out there too. And b) No matter if it is the girl I once dated, gone out with, had crush on, befriended with, walked away from, etc. etc. I realized that one thing all of them have in common is that they are both extremely strong yet fragile too. So here is a toast to all of you girls out there. May you continue to blossom and find what your seek in life. May you also find that one who can help you grow, make you laugh, and protect you at the same time since I know you know already that it is something I can yet to offer. but believe me, I am learning and trying. Wait and see yeah!

Cheers :P

Maturing?

I feel, over the past few weeks. I am on a accelerated course of growing up. I feel I am beginning to let go of my grasps of my carefree and irresponsible days. Those days, good times and bad are slowly coming to an end. Just part of life I guess.

Hot Chicks....

Now the self-critical portion of the blog is done....

Man, there are lots of attractive single Asian female in my new job. But man, I am so not attracted to any of them.

The fobby pretty superstars, The snubby ABC princesses, just ain't my type....

Time to find my self a:

She can have my umbrella anyday!

The meaning of it all....

With my new job, I communite about 32 miles each way now. Fortunately, it is against the traffic so it is taking me only about 40 min. for the round trip. Not too bad.

Every other morning, I would exit Diamond Bar Blvd. and stop by the Fairway Starbucks for coffee (Coffee of the day only, since it is more economical).

On my way down the hill, I would always see a young hispanic lady walking from the top of the hill down the the bus stop. She looks like she's in college or something.

Also on my way down the Fairway hill, near Colima, I would also see a old HomelessAsian man in his 70s pulling his cart and camp near the bus stop.

And often, I see them talk and laugh sometimes before the Bus arrives and take the young lady away....

Knowing this, I realized how fortunate my life has been. And how, in a sense, meaningless drive for material goods has been.

I think I am beginning to see the greater picture now :)

Things that makes me Happy...

1) Family (this is especially true as I get older)

3) Waking up early with sunlight hitting my face
4) The feeling that I am still (or the trying of) in shape
5) WoW (Almost level 70 baby)
6) Rediscovering the joy of reading some good books from my childhood
7) My dogs, especially my needy Chihuahua who has just lost a bunch of teeth
8) Friends who I care, eventhough I don't get to see them as often as I should
9) Blackberry
10) Being Free!

Moving on....

Another interesting news to add about my ever changing, yet, constant life.
Recently, I’ve been offered a very generous job. The base salary increase, plus stock options, signing bonuses will definitely help me move closer of getting that Porsche Cayman and super bachelor pad in lovely OC. With this said, it would be sad to say good bye to the people I currently work with. They are some of the most brilliant and hard working co workers I’ve ever had. And I learned something from each and everyone of them every single day. Especially my Director and VP. But I think the move is necessary for me at this moment. For two reasons: a) obviously the increase in financial reward is one big reason, but b) the chance I’ll be given to run the P&L of a entire category and managing a 9 digit budget would definitely look good in my resume, for what ever endeavor I might take next…. I just can’t imagine how hard it would be to say good bye this Friday….

On a side note. After randomly reading Master Jack’s blog. I think it is time for my to ditch the current physical funk I am in and really do something to bring that fire back in the atheletic side of me. I don’t want to be screwed in this year’s LA Triathlon…

Business trip....in Cancun

That is right, I am currently in Cancun right now for a Customer's Strategy Connference. So after a day of meetings and trade show. I've finally got sometime to enjoy the sun, the sea, and the sand here in Cancun.

I must say, the beach is pretty nice. nice, breeze. but alas, I am heading back to LA tomorrow. Definitely wish I would have more time here. Sep. or Oct. maybe?!?

Lucky #7

Oh, I also forgot to post this....
Remember my "Feris Bueller's day off" about a month ago?
well, after losing about $60 on the tables at pechanga. I decided to give the slot machine a try (after listening to how great the game is from twin #1)
Well, the result speaks for itself. $3200 on a triple 7! baby. (btw, i was playing a $1 slot machine).
As for my winnings. They are all gone now. spent it all on stupid things. But I did donate $100 to my favorite charity. WWF Save the tiger foundation.

Still sick....

Arrrggg. Summer flu sucks. I could not even get out of my bed this morning, so it is a day off for yours truly.

Sick

I’ve been under the weather for the past couple of days. Summer Cold feels a lot worse than Winter Cold.
Could not sleep at all last night, so I ended up watching the entire season of South Park Season 5 last night. Man, that Butters cracks me up.

Well, being sick all alone in Irvine has its crappy side. But I managed to take care of myself by boiling some nice ginger tea and chicken noodle soup. I just wish that SOMEONE would have prepare them for me...sigh*

on a side note. I have a friend up in google who has been sending me funny stuffs from youtube.
I will post them periodically.

Thoughts relaxing weekend...

Boy! What great day we had yesterday. I can almost feel summer is coming and I am so excited about it. Here is my dedication for the upcoming dog days of summer. It's Wake me up when September ends by Green Day. I know it has a melancholy lyric tone to it, but to me, it is also reflective and almost a precursor of a exciting summer. May everyone I know have a memorable summer!

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my fathers come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Thoughts for 30 something

Hellow folks, its been a while, but my schedule is back to be a little bit normal now...

Here are some random thoughts over the past few weeks from my round the US trip :

- Shits rolls downhill...Don't be at the bottom.

- Massoles is the term everyone should use when dealing with people from Boston

- Speaking of Boston, it is the most GHETTO place I've been, its cold too.

- Wicked (see above)

- Ft. Lauderdale has the finest girls in the world. they like to wear tiny thong Bikinis. but the Cubans chicks are the hottest by far.

- People who have friendship that are not mutually benificial are fools.

- Girls have big asses....even asian girls...once they pass 25

- Big ass is not bad, but saggy big ass is a big turnoff.

- I can still carry on a intellectual conversation...while staring at girls boobs.

Ferris Bueller's Day

Well folks.

I am going to have my annual Ferris Bueller’s day THIS Friday. The last Ferris Bueller Day I had I ended up driving home a new car…I think this time, it would definitely be cheaper.

The tentative plan is:

Morning: Head to a casino in ghetto style (since high rollers always lose). Win some money and go to a spa for some manly R&R.

Afternoon: Some culture at the Getty. I’lve always love this quiet wing at the Getty’s with a great view of the Pacific. Great place to read or play my PSP.

Night: Angel season opener.

Well, who’s interested to join???

All about the Money?

here is the question:

As a young single 30 year old. Should my focus be on my career? Make the most contribution to my current job. chasing after that next big job, next big salary?

I still think so. but timing and feeling is everything.

The job, the money and company could be everything you wanted. But if your heart is telling you that it is not right. YOU GOTTA SAY NO!

I like where I am now, at least from now to the end if the year, so stay put it is.

Porsche Caymen and a swanky bachlor's pad would have to wait a little while :P

Ahh. The Eye Exams

I've had some eye trouble lately, and I thought why not take advantage of my VSP. So I made my annual visit to SCCO, first and foremost to check up on my retina. After getting the assurances from Mr. Bull and some other eye doctors at SCCO. It appears that I don't have retinal tear at this moment. Which is a good thing.

So, after this incident, I decided to take a better care of my eyes. That means less contact lense wear and more glasses. I picked up a AWESOME pair of glasses (metal frame). I think it makes me look smarter.

So this weekend I'll be back to SCCO to pick the glasses up, and get my contacts refitted....
time to juice up my Eye Drs. there again to bypass the long wait :P

John Legend

Long time no blog. I know I’ve been lazy about keeping this up. but with the coming of Spring, I feel much more energized.

Lets start a new blog with a music review:

Here is a review of a great CD I just bought, and I thought why not just write a review about it with a bottle of wine in front of my fire place and write about this album. Great nigiht and definitely good Stuff. The artist is John Legend, and the album is called once again.

Save Room (10 out of 10) Hands down the best song of the album setting up the tones for the rest of the tracks. Soulful, smooth. Starts of Marvin Gayeish, then the song really takes off from there. Though lyric is not that deep, the song itself is amazing. You can hear it from the Wave to Star FM. This is a perfect song to drive thru downtown LA on the 110 by yourself in the night and just feel the vibe of the city lights…
Heaven (5 out of 10). A little too busy this song is. I’d skip it more in the future.
Stereo (3 out of 10). Another skip. Don’t really feel it dawg.
Show me (5 out of 10). Very blue song. Average only.
Each day gets better (10 out of 10). A great, smooth retrospective soulful song. Great stuff to listen to by yourself or have your significant other sit next to you and listen next to the fireplace. Can help to feel a strong sense of sad sentimentality in this song though…
PDA (10 out of 10). Piano solo did the job to start, then lead to the hook immediately. Great stuff. Very Toshinobu Kubotaish. The lyric, is funny tho, especially the parts about sneaking into the parents room and get it on.
Slow dance (8 out of 10). I love this song because it is the only very mo town style song. Reminds me of more innocent and real times once upon a time.
Again ( 7 out of 10). Too Seal like, but I can see it as a song to put you to sleep.
Maxim (10 out of 10). Ahhhha Brazilian style. Finally a song to play in my next beach vacation whenever that is. With a corona light that is. A answer to the classic “Girl from Ipanema). Da Bull would enjoy this song with Mrs. Bull.
Where did my baby go (8 out of 10). Elton John style. But sweet little song.
Maxine’s Interlude (6 out of 10). Sort of continuation or the previous song. A little bit of Al Green’s lesser great works.
Another Again (7 out of 10). Show’s off his vocal range, classic R&B with hip hop style.
Coming Home (7 out of 10). Country flavor, sentimental song about the war in Iraq. We all know where John Legend stands :P

Tipping Point

Not sure if any one of you read this book. But it is truly a great book to read (strongly recommend it). Though the book is more or less about marketing, I think it applies to other aspects of life as well.

Everyone has a tipping point. A epiphany, a realization, an awakening, a moment of truth and clarity. It could be the most mundane and random stuff. It could be over something that may not seem to matter much, or even stupid. But still, it is there.

And once a person crosses this Tipping Point. A brand new door and a brand new world appears. And the old things, events, possessions, or even people for that matter that you thought you once care just doesn’t seem to matter or have meaning anymore. It is a strange feeling, but it is absolutely true.

Life is funny like that isn’t it J

It's a Man!

Well my loyal readers.

Here is the result of the 1st round of my little experiment (See tables below):

Avg. "Hotness" Rating on: By A. Wilson By E. Chen
AsianF 47% 51%
AsianM 37% 40%
AsianF with none Asian M 36% 39%

As you can clearly see from the test, Asian Female, on average, are 10% better looking than Asian Male. However, Asian Female who dates none Asian Male are on average 11% fuglier than your average Asian Female.

THEREFORE: WHITE DUDES are actually digging and dateing Asian Guys! All the “girls” that you see who are with White Guys are actually Sub avg. looking Asian Dudes.

Crying Game anyone!?!?

The sampling size was 50 individuals during lunch hours. My partner in crime and I are continuing our investigation tomorrow night at a Asian Lounge in location A. For the sake of our safety, we are going to be discrete about it.

Anger Management...

I've been feeling angry lately about a lot of injustices I am experiencing and seeing first hand.
Seeing how things unfold made me realize that this world is truly not fair, and we must learn to fend for ourselves and look out for our own best interests.

Today, I realized that this anger was actually a good thing. It made me realized that in the end, the ends would vindicate the means.

Million Dollar Theory--Ugly Asian Girl with Average Looking White Guys

Recently, I had lunch with a very pretty girl friend of mine who happens to be mix racial. During lunch, an interesting topic of conversation came up.

The million dollar question is:

Recently, we both notice that there are a lot more white guys with Asian girls. The question is, why do white guys have developed this fetishes about Asian girls? And more interestingly, why are the ones that white dudes pick, in most cases, (not all since I have a Japanese friend who is super cute dating a white dude the guy locked out I guess, but in MOST CASES) are the butt ugly ones? (slanted eyes, flat face, flat nose, flat chested, flat ass etc. etc.)

So, as bored as we both are, this conversation evolved into an all out experiment

The experiment that my friends and I are doing is trying to prove these postulates and Q&As:

1) White guys tend to have bad taste when it comes to Asian woman. The fouler the asian girl look (with attitude I might add) the more attractive they think she is (and the fouler the Asian girl looks, the more attitude she has...)

2) Q:What is the reason why ugly Asian girl respond to avg. looking white dudes?

A:Well, the reason, my lovely mix racial friend, would argue is: i) the ratio of good looking Asian guys to good looking Asian girl is off-balanced. There are more good looking Asian girl then good looking Asian guys. With that said, all the good looking Asian guys are taken by your good looking Asian girls. And the excess good looking Asian girl are with i) rich ass ugly Asian guys or ii) older sugar daddies. So what happens to your Ugly Asian girls? Well, since all the good looking Asian Guys are taken, and that the left over Asian guys are either geeks or nerds who are poor, and that the chances of a white dude that would be better looking is higher (see points above). The ugly asian girls would have to resort to chose from the list above or go nun on us….hense, resulting in ugly asian girl with avg. looking white guys….

Well, next Saturday, me and my lovely friend are going to put our theories to the test.

Expect a report soon.

P.S. I am so going to get killed by Asian Girls aren’t I but if you hate me for it, u know what that means :P

HST in Taiwan

Well Folks,

After 20 years and $15 Billion US Dollars. The HSR is finally up and running in Taiwan.
With this new train. The trip from Taipei to KaoHsiung (250 miles) will only take 90 min. even with one stop.

I've been on the TVR in France in my Eurotrip 2004. And I know how awesome it is. I can't wait to ride it this Nov. when I go back for Thanksgiving.
