Today is the first day of summer. and it was unbearably hot so I left work early. On the drive back home down to Irvine, I came across a old man riding his bike on the side walk. And that got me started thinking on just how much I used to enjoy riding bikes on nice summer days (bad example as it was over 95 degrees still at 5PM in Irvine).
So, as soon as I got home, I dusted off my bike and started riding. I did not know where I was going and I did not care. I just felt that even it was hot as hell outside, I just wanted to ride somewhere....
so the next thing I knew, after two hours on the bike, I went thru Culver, Newport Coast Drive, up the hill, down the hill, thru PCH, thru Newport bay, back on Harvard, thru Tustin and ended in the intercection between Jamberee and Santiago Canyon.
Then I realized that I am absolutely exhausted and I could not ride home...so I slowly, slowly rolled my bike home.
I did not know why I did what I did today. But during the journey, as physically draining as it was, it gave back a sense of feeling that I had not experienced in a long time. A sense of tranquillity.
Well, now I am officially having a heat stroke (as I lay on my bed drinking wintermellon drinks to cool off). It hurts, but it felt good :)
Dude, that's what I loved about riding. I miss that. Haven't touched my bike in over 1 yr. And the weather here is about 106 today. Last night at 10pm it was still 90F. How can I ride in weather like this?
